Best Actress Oscar winner Natalie Portman shared intimate vows under the stars with beau Benjamin Millepied on Sunday evening. The couple met on the set of Black Swan in 2009 in which Millepied was the choreographer and had a small role in the film. Shortly after, the pair announced their engagement and pregnancy. Portman gave birth to the couple’s son Aleph last year in June.
Local wildflowers from the Californian coastal town of Big Sur were used not only for decorating the chuppah but also in a floral wreath she wore in her hair. Portman wore a tea length, A-line Rodarte dress complete with sheer long sleeves and overlay to cover the star’s chest and arms for her traditional Jewish ceremony.
The vegan bride served a vegetarian spread to attendants rather than the traditional fish or steak options at most weddings. In lieu of a wedding cake, the couple served macaroons to their 60 guests, a nod to Millepied’s French roots. Party favors were wildflower seed packets, inscribed with the simple message ‘Merci.’ Celebrity guests Diane Sawyer, Ivanka Trump, Macaulay Culkin, and Rashida Jones danced to hip-hop music until 2:30 am.
In her Oscar acceptance speech, Natalie thanked her "beautiful love" Benjamin for giving her "the most important role of her life." Their wedding was said to have paid homage to Millepied’s native France as well as the couple’s eco-conscious outlook on the world.
